In the story fireman burn books instead of saving things from fires. So firemen are destroyers instead of heroes. They don’t want anyone to have lots of knowledge so they just burn the all the books that they find. The people are afraid to see what will happen to society if the people in it become to smart. They think the world will become chaotic and crazy. So they just burn the books to be safe.
2. pg. 6
Clarisse starts talking to Montag about his personal life and thoughts towards things. She asks him lots of questions and tries to get as much out of him as she can. She was introduced early in the story because she becomes an important character and the things she asks Montag about is what starts the story.
3. pg. 9
Clarisse asks Montag if he is happy. At first Montag doesn't really know what to do with that question. He just thinks he is happy and wonders why she would ask that of him. Then he starts to think about it and it starts to get to his head. That creates strong curious mood in the story and makes the reader wonder.
4. pg. 12
Montag finds his wife, Mildred, unconcious on her bed. She overdosed on sleeping pills and was very close to death. So Montag had to rush her to the hospital and take good care of her. Montag was very shocked to find her in that condition. He didn't really know what to think of it.
5. pg. 16
Mildred is in the hospital. The doctors are taking care of her. They drained out all her blood and put new blood in. She is going to be okay she just needs to be careful. Montag is still shocked. He has lots of questions and he is very curious about things.
6. pg. 20
Mildred denies taking the sleeping pills purposly. She doesn't remember exactaly why she had taken so many but she new she didn't try to hurt herself. So her and Montag talk about it and try to find the answer to why she had overdosed.
7. pg. 24
Clarisse doesn't understand why Montag is a fireman. She keeps questioning him. She is trying to get a point across to him but he's not realizing it quite fast. It takes him time to comprhend the purpose of all the questions.
8. pg. 28
Clarisse meets Montag everyday. It's kind of like she is stalking him. But I still don't really know what she wants from him. She has to want something that's why she keeps questioning him and trying to get information from him. She is messing with his head.
9. pg. 32
Montag begins to bvecome attached to Clarisse's company. He enjoys talking to her. He also is learing things from her and he is very interested in the things she has to say and talk about.
10. pg 36
Montag finds a whole binch of books in a house. He of course has to burn them all though. But he got curious. He stole one of the books from the house and kept it. He really wanted the book and was curious to see what was inside
11. pg. 41
Montag hides the book from his wife. I wonder if she is going to find out or not. Then if she does what she will think. Will she be upset with her husband or will she be okay with it. Then if the other fireman find out he could lose his job.
12. pg. 44
Montag was trying to figure out if he was in love with anyone. He couldn't quite decide how he was feeling inside. He was very confused. He really liked Mildred but Clarisse gave him a different feeling inside.
13. pg. 48-49
Montag gets sick. Mildred has to help him. He's going to be okay though. Mildred and Montag talk about events that have been going on and stuff.
14. pg. 54-55
Montag and Mildred are in the TV room. Mildred almost finds Montags book. But he makes her look away. He gets really nervous now everytime she goes anywhere near his book because he doesn't know what will happen if she finds the book.
15. pg 58-59
Firemen are no longer needed because all of the houses are fireproof. They also say that they don't want anyone to be smart because they want everyone to be equal. But I don't think thats fair because that means people can't be smart just because other people are dumb.
16. pg 70-74
Montag reads a lot. He wants to learn how to understand books and what they mean. He needs to find someone who can help him.
17. pg. 75-78
Montag wants Faber to help him understand books and what he is reading. Faber doesn't know if he can trust Montag or not. Faber brings the bible to him and wants to know what he knows about the book.
18. pg 80-83
Faber realizes that he can trust Montag. Montag brings him the book and they analyze it. They talk about what Faber knows about books and how things used to be.
19. pg.86
Montag and Faber plan to burn down the firehouse. Ans they talk about printing books after that. But are just messing around. They aren't really serious about burning the firehouse but they are trying to figure out some sort of a plan.
20. pg. 90
Faber has made a sort of radio that listens to the fireman. He played the market and got money to pay for it. He has had lots of spare time and thats what he does with it.
21. pg. 95
Montag id talking to Mrs. Phelps. She is telling him things about her life and the things she's gone through. She tells him a lot. He is very interested in everything she has to say.
22. pg 100
Mrs. Phelps is still with Montag. Still talking about her life and other stuff. Mrs. Bowles is there too. She talks to Montag.
23. pg. 105
Montag gives Beatty a book. Beatty throws the book away. He says that smart people are fools. He would rather sit down and play poker. He is very rude to Montag in that page. Montag should just ingnore what everyone else has to say and do what he wants.
24. pg. 110
Beatty takes Montag out. I think they went to the firehouse. Thats why Montag was so upset and angry. He didn't like it at all.
25. pg. 115
Beatty is asking Montag if he can get away becuase he didn't want to get got in the fire. Mildred was also there. She got away in the car though. Thats why Beatty was asking Montag if he could get away.
26. pg. 120
Montag and Beatty were messing with the firehouse. They ran into the mechanical hound. That wasn't good for Montag though because the mechanical hound doesn't like Montag. The mechanical hound started to attack Montag.
27. pg. 125
Montag got into some deep trouble. The police are out and its just crazy. When Montag goes to the bathroom he hears the radio say that war has been declared. So its pretty bad.
28. pg. 130
The fireman have been finding books lots of places. They are burning down houses and stuffs. Faber and Montag are running from the police. They have a flame thrower. Faber killed the captain.
29. pg. 135
Montag and Faber say there goodbyes and speechs to each other and they split. They wish each other good luck. They are both in deep trouble. They need to leave and find a way out.
30. pg. 140
Montag goes into the river to hide. Everything in the city burnt. He caught everything on fire. Now the whole the city was gone.
31. pg. 145
Montag is on the outside of town. He listens to people talk and he watches the fire cool down. He is waiting for the right time to leave.
32. pg. 150
All the men in the forest work together to keep the fire down. By doing this it really brought the men together and they learned how to work together.
33. pg. 155
"don't judge a book by its cover" was said by someone but it was used as a joke. Everyone started laughing but no one took it the wrong way.
